Unpacking Learning, Jan. 14 to Feb. 11

Moderator: Richard Sewell
Registration Fee: $25
Time: 4 + 1 weeks from 12 noon to 1:15 pm starting Jan. 14
Location: Huron Shores United Church, 25 Main St., Grand Bend
Notes: This course is a follow up to “Introducing PIL Cooperative Forum” in the fall.  The fall course is not a prerequisite.
This series emerged from a need to develop a new approach to researching and presenting material at PIL. With Richard Sewell as our guide, a group of enthusiasts worked together to identify issues, brain storm solutions, and experiment.
  1. Jan. 14 – Diverse Learning Spaces (Fredi, Jean, Sybil)
  2. Jan. 21 – Finding Your Own Learning Style (Mike, Jackie)
  3. Jan. 28 – Traveling Schools (Elaine, Karen)
  4. Feb. 4 – Wrap Up – discussion of our process and the pros and cons of working collaboratively vs alone and share some of the sometimes surprising outcomes of our experience.

PIL was started about 13 years ago by some transplants – Bill Metcalfe and John Merkies – from the London Society for Learning in Retirement (SLR). On the theme of “Unpacking Learning”, join Jeff Keenor and Susan Booth from SLR in our 5th session on February 11 as they share their experiences in successfully engaging retirees in the process of life-long learning.
