Words are not enough …

There is a deep hope for Canada that there can be reconciliation. We would like to believe that every Canadian could imagine a Canada in which every person will live with dignity, value, and a shared purpose. But to do that, there must be a reflection of our shared history and the harmful events that continue to haunt us.

Come and explore the progress, or lack of progress that we are making in our current undertakings with this important issue.

  1. Jan. 14 – Elizabeth Stevens will talk about preserving indigenous languages
  2. Jan. 21 – Bill Henderson and Bonnie Reynolds will discuss native spirituality.  Bill is an artist and has studied Native cultural and spiritual traditions for the past 40 years.  Bonnie is engaged in spiritual healing workshops for women and youth.
  3. Jan. 28 – Tom Patterson is a Deacon of St. James Anglican Church in Stratford and will describe his commitment to helping non-Indigenous people seek truth and reconciliation, and why it is important to build new relationships between our communities.
  4. Feb. 4 – Jeffrey George (a.k.a. Red Dog) a well known local artist will talk about his personal journey: Living through abuse and restoring ones self-worth as a native person, overcoming challenges, facing fears and following a dream with the wisdom of his elders.
  5. Feb. 11 – Jorden George is a Research Consultant, and a Member of the Kettle and Stony Point Community. He will speak about First Nations Treaties and Reconciliations, as well as Restorative Justice. He will also address the history of his People.
